There are legal limits on our district in its ability to discuss political candidates and their platforms. Because of this, we avoid any and all endorsement beyond a personal bio. If a candidate has a website, we will include that information on their profile if you would like to learn more. Otherwise, feel free to reach out to our district, or directly to the commissioners.

Local Leaders

Polk Soil and Water Conservation District is lead by a board of five elected commissioners who serve four-year or two-year terms. This board provides oversight and leadership to serve Polk County residents and achieve the district’s mission.

Leaders across Iowa play an important role in the future of flooding and water quality on both the rural and urban landscape. Understanding the issues is a key to making the best decisions as our communities grow and work together.

As Iowa continues to be a leader in agricultural production and is home to fast growing urban communities, decision makers must consider future impacts to our resources and make efforts to protect residents into the future.

Local leaders may include:

  • Conservation professionals

  • Elected officials

  • Agricultural group leaders

  • Politicians

  • Community group leaders

  • Engineers

  • Federal, state, and local government staff
